GI#18 Revised 5/25/2018
The The Pyne Poynt School rain garden, located in the North
Camden neighborhood, has been implemented by partnership
with the Pyne Poynt Family School to serve as a learning
opportunity for staff and students. Plants included within the
rain garden are: Red Twig Dogwood, Highbush Blueberry,
Black-eyed Susan, Beebalm, etc. This effort reduces pressure
on the CSO system, mitigate urban heat island effect during summer months, and enhance the
appearance of the school. This rain garden helps to mitigate nuisance flooding in the area and
reduces nonpoint source pollution and stormwater that would otherwise discharge into the City of
Camden’s combined sewer system. This system captures 47,400 gallons of stormwater each year.
This project was completed in April 2013.
