GI#24 Revised 5/25/2018
The 25 acre Gateway Park, located within the Marlton
neighborhood, is roughly bordered by Admiral Wilson
Boulevard (US Route 30) to the north (linking Philadelphia
and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to US Route 130), the
Pub Restaurant to the east, and Cooper River to the south
and west. The park is located across the Cooper River
from Farnham Park (Camden City’s largest park) and New
Camden Park (a county park). A short distance from
Gateway Park are Camden County Golf Academy and
Cooper River Park, the county’s most heavily visited
parks. Two large rain gardens manage stormwater issues, and two large bioswales and some
wildflower meadows have been installed. This rain garden helps to mitigate nuisance flooding in
the area and reduces nonpoint source pollution and stormwater that would otherwise discharge
into the City of Camden’s combined sewer system. The initial completion date of the Gateway
Park rain garden was June 2014. The rain garden captures 221,0000 gallons of stormwater per
year. A rubble border has been added to the rain garden site in June 2017.
