GI#33 Revised 5/25/2018
At this site, located in the Whitman Park neighborhood, the
deteriorating sidewalks have been removed and replaced
with permeable surfaces that promote groundwater
recharge. A pervious concrete sidewalk has been installed
along with a 490 square foot stormwater planter that is
designed to intercept, treat, and filter the stormwater runoff
from a portion of Copewood Street. The green infrastructure practices installed at this site
complement the existing rain garden and trees installed at the site in 2012. Overflow from the
planter discharges to the existing curb and gutter and flow to the sewer system. The porous
pavement and stormwater planters installed here help to mitigate nuisance flooding in the area
and reduces nonpoint source pollution and stormwater that would otherwise discharge into the
City of Camden's combined sewer system. This site captures 121,774 gallons of stormwater per
year. This project was completed in September 2015.
