GI#43 Revised 5/25/2018
At this site, located in the Dudley neighborhood, a 300
gallon rainwater harvesting cistern has been installed to
collect the stormwater runoff from a shade structure that
is approximately 12 by 16 feet. The collect rainwater is
used to water the existing community vegetable and fruit
garden beds. The deteriorating sidewalks have been
removed and replaced with permeable surfaces that
promote groundwater recharge. 1,525 square feet of
pervious concrete sidewalk has been installed. Three stormwater planters have been installed in
series to intercept, treat, and filter the stormwater runoff from a portion of N. 29th Street. Overflow
from planters discharges to existing curb and gutter. Overflow from cistern discharges to lawn
areas. These installations help to mitigate nuisance flooding in the area and reduces nonpoint
source pollution and stormwater that would otherwise discharge into the City of Camden's
combined sewer system. This site helps to capture 114,279 gallons of stormwater per year. This
project was completed in September 2015.
