GI#51 Revised 5/25/2018
At this site, located in the Bergen Square
neighborhood, the deteriorating sidewalks and former
building foundation has been removed and replaced
with permeable surfaces that will promote
groundwater recharge. An apporximately 1,370
square foot rain garden has been designed to
intercept, treat, and filter the stormwater runoff from
portions of the adjacent roadway. The remaining area
will be de-paved and planted with various trees and shrubs. Overflow from the rain garden will
discharge to the sewer system. These installations help to mitigate nuisance flooding in the area
and reduces nonpoint source pollution and stormwater that would otherwise discharge into the
City of Camden's combined sewer system. This site captures 104,300 gallons of stormwater per
year. This project was completed in May 2017.
