GI#56 Revised 5/25/2018
Phoenix Park is a 5 acre riverfront park created for the residents
of South Camden located within Camden’s Waterfront South
neighborhood. 227 Jefferson Street used to be an abandoned
industrial property that was purchased by CCMUA by way of an
Open Space grant provided by Camden County. The property
now includes a replaced asphalt roadway, a number of
wildflower meadows, porous pavement and a number of newly planted trees, all of which assist in
capturing, treating, and infiltrating stormwater. Phoenix Park helps to mitigate nuisance flooding in
the area and reduces nonpoint source pollution and stormwater that would otherwise discharge into
the City of Camden's combined sewer system. Phoenix Park captures 5,000,000 gallons of
stormwater per year. Phoenix Park captures 1,000,000 gallons of stormwater per year. Phase 2 of
Phoenix Park was completed in November 2017.
