If We Made a Neat Package of Our Environment,
It Might Look Like This, Right?
WRONG!
What's Missing? PEOPLE!
All of us...EVERYWHERE
In fact, people are the most important part of the environment because people are its biggest polluters and thus have an obligation to be its biggest protectors.
In Camden County the CCMUA is the legally appointed enforcement agent serving as watchdog over more than 414 industries ranging from coffee & donut shops to sprawling manufacturing plants.
Of this total, 134 of them discharge more than 3 million gallons of industrial waste into our collection system daily.
We license these firms, we inspect them, we monitor them, and when necessary, we fine them and/or bring criminal charges against them.
But it's not just our fight. It's yours, too.
Prevention of pollution is the biggest and most important contribution you can make.
In your home...
- don't allow cooking fats and grease to enter your plumbing system
- don't pour paints, old oil, nail polish remover, old insecticides, herbicides & fertilizers down any drain
In your neighborhood...
- if you see any truck dumping anything into a sewer or storm drain, take its license plate number or any other identification and call the police or the CCMUA Hotline at (856) 541-3700, ext. 2247
Our environment is a living thing and has rights just like any other living thing.
Remember ...just as prevention of a disease is better and cheaper than a cure, the same goes for protecting and enhancing our environment. Prevention of pollution makes it easier and cheaper to clean up wastewater here at the CCMUA.
Together, let's make every day Mother Earth Day...
